Herengracht is one of the four main canals in Amsterdam's historic Canal Ring, situated between the Singel and Keizersgracht canals. Constructed in the Dutch Golden Age of the 17th century, it was developed to accommodate the city's expansion and to serve as a waterway for merchants.
